KATHMANDU: International Conference on Inclusive Insurance 2024 commenced in Kathmandu today.
Jointly organised by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), Nepal Insurers' Association, Life Insurers' Association, and Nepal Micro Insurance Association, in collaboration with the Munich Re Foundation and Micro Insurance Network, the conference will run until 25 October.
NIA Chair Surya Prasad Silwal stated that experts from 44 countries will explore ways to drive growth and economic viability in inclusive insurance for emerging markets, focusing on low-income families, vulnerable populations, and micro, small, and medium-scale industries. The gathering will also address strategies for climate risk insurance, the implementation of digital technologies in micro-insurance, and the removal of hurdles in promoting inclusive insurance.
More than 400 representatives from insurance regulatory bodies, development partners, non-governmental organisations, and insurance experts are attending the conference.
