KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asserted that the government adeptly managed the challenges created by the monsoon disasters.
Speaking on the occasion of the government's 100 days on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli stated that the government effectively coped with the floods and landslides triggered by incessant rains.
He stated that although vehicular traffic was paralysed due to road damages in several places, the government made all-out efforts to resume traffic promptly through swift road repairs and the arrangement of alternative routes. "Dashain, the biggest festival for Nepali people, was approaching, but essential infrastructure was destroyed. It was indeed a panic situation with the floods and landslides sweeping away bridges and roads, disconnecting the federal capital from outer areas. However, the government's adept management quickly restored road transportation through continuous hard work," he recalled.
Around 800,000 people left the Kathmandu Valley during the Dashain festival this year, with 111,000 vehicles operating from Kathmandu to other areas during the festival.
