KANCHANPUR: The adoption of technology in farming has steadily increased in Belauri and other areas of Kanchanpur district.
Farmers have replaced oxen and buffaloes with tractors, mini-tillers, and power tillers for traditional farming. Local communities have also utilised technology to ease crop harvesting and grinding. Recently, farmers in Belauri Municipality have more frequently used reapers, cutters, combined harvesters, and other technological equipment.
One farmer reaping significant benefits from such advancements is Asre Ram Badayak of Belauri Municipality-6. Additionally, the use of drone technology is becoming increasingly popular in agriculture for sowing seeds and controlling pests. The mechanisation of farming has attracted farmers due to its cost-effectiveness, time efficiency, and increased productivity.
Badayak, engaged in commercial farming since 2017, has invested Rs 10 million in agricultural inputs and equipment. "Last year, I purchased a drone for Rs 1 million because it has simplified farming," he stated, adding that technology has reduced farming costs and improved production. He also mentioned receiving training in commercial farming from various cities in India.
