KATHMANDU: Sherpa Adventure Gear Nepal, represented by Tashi Dong and Dorje Hoazangtsang, claimed victory at the Ncell Corporate Golf Tournament held at Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday. The pair finished with a remarkable 10-under-par 62, securing the championship title. Their impressive win awarded them four round-trip tickets to Dubai, a Callaway iron set, and hampers.
Mustang Golf Club and Leon Motors both finished one stroke behind, tied at nine-under-par 63. In a countback, Mustang Golf Club, represented by Indra Dhara Bista and Madhav Simkhada, claimed the runner-up position with a back-nine score of six-under-par 30. They received Callaway AI Smoke drivers, iPads, and gift hampers. Leon Motors, represented by Vijay Shrestha Einhaus and Phursang, finished third and was awarded Callaway golf bags and hampers.
Individual awards also highlighted the event. Vijay Shrestha Einhaus won the Longest Drive, earning a rangefinder and gift hampers, while Prabin Shahi Thakuri took the Closest to the Pin award and received a rangefinder and hampers.
Prizes were awarded by Ncell’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Jabbor Kayumov, Gokarna Golf Club President Suhrid Ghimire, and Captain Joseph Nathan. Ncell has pledged to match the registration fees collected during the tournament, effectively doubling the funds raised. These funds will be directed towards providing educational kits for students nationwide through the Ncell Foundation.
Ncell CEO Kayumov highlighted the significance of collaboration in bringing the tournament to life, expressing gratitude to Gokarna Forest Resort and other partners for their support. “This collective effort emphasises the tournament’s broader mission of enhancing education and community support, extending its impact beyond the competitive elements of the event,” said Kayumov.
A total of 55 teams participated in the tournament, which followed a stroke play, four-ball better ball format. In this format, each team’s score is recorded as the best score achieved by either player on each hole, adjusted by their handicap.
The Ncell Corporate Golf Tournament not only celebrated golf but also supported a charitable cause, with Ncell committing Rs 3 million through the Ncell Foundation. Entry fees collected from each team will be matched by Ncell for this contribution. The tournament was supported by Mahindra, Agni Group, Marriott Kathmandu, Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu, Fly Dubai and Holidays by Fly Dubai, Huawei, Pernod Ricard (Chivas Regal), Club Himalaya, Dabur Nepal, Shikhar Insurance, Gen Next, and Pepsi.
