KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB)https://ntb.gov.np/ has signed an agreement with the popular free calling and messaging app Rakuten Viber to promote tourism in Nepal.
NTB CEO Deepak Raj Joshi and Rakuten Viber's Business Development Manager and Country Representative for Nepal, Kshitu Risal, signed the agreement on Wednesday.
The NTB's official Viber platform, 'NepalNow by NTB', is expected to assist the tourism industry, tourists, and the general public by disseminating tourism information, daily communication, and updates among Nepalis worldwide. This channel will also share the latest news about tourist destinations, new products, packages, activities, and experiences in different parts of Nepal. Tourism promotion campaigns and sticker packs will also be conducted during the partnership period.
NTB CEO Joshi expressed his belief that the cooperation with Viber will boost Nepal's tourism. "Viber is a very popular platform. We are positive that this will help Nepal to create more brand visibility as a tourist destination and diversify our products and experiences. We plan to create a dynamic group with travel blogs, content creators, tour operators, and travellers for complementary and cross-cutting communication. In this age of digital exchange and AI, it will be important for us to use such popular channels to reach our audience in a more engaging and personal way," he said.
Senior Director for Asia Pacific at Rakuten Viber, David Tse, stated that Rakuten Viber has been committed to supporting Nepal's tourism industry for the past few years. "The partnership with NTB is an important milestone in our commitment to promote Nepal as a must-visit destination," Tse said. He aims to showcase the country's amazing landscapes and unique experiences through the platform. Rakuten Viber is the most preferred communication app among Nepali consumers and has recently partnered with six different government agencies of Nepal in the last six months.
