KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, has stated that the government will provide all possible support for the promotion of the renewable energy sector. He urged relevant bodies, including the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), to actively participate in these efforts.
Speaking at a programme organised in Kathmandu on Tuesday to mark the 28th anniversary of the AEPC, Minister Khadka emphasised the urgent need to pass the renewable energy bill to facilitate its development. He added that the bill will be prioritised in the upcoming Parliament session. The Minister highlighted the crucial role of the AEPC in achieving the government's goal of generating 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035. On the occasion, he honoured individuals and organisations for their contributions to the development of renewable energy.
Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Purna Bahadur Tamang, praised the AEPC's efforts to bring electricity to areas without power through renewable energy sources. AEPC Executive Director Nawa Raj Dhakal shared that the centre has constructed 40,253 kilowatts of micro and small-scale hydropower projects and provided renewable energy services to 3.65 million households across the country.
Additionally, AEPC employees donated blood to commemorate the anniversary.
