RASUWA: Imports of goods have resumed via the Rasuwagadhi trade transit point following the reopening of the Rasuwagadhi-Kyirong Highway after maintenance. The highway had been closed due to landslides and floods triggered by recent torrential rains.
According to Rasuwa Customs Office, four containers of apples, two containers of pears, and three containers of walnuts entered Nepal via the checkpoint on Tuesday. A total of 76 cargo containers entered Nepal from Kyirong via the Miteri Bridge, while 49 Nepali containers carrying domestic products and one carrying goods left for China.
Revenue collection has decreased due to the highway disruption and the suspension of imports. Rabindra Pyakurel, Information Officer at the Customs Office, informed that revenue has decreased by Rs 2.5 billion.
