DHARAN: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has committed to providing sickle cell medicine produced and tested in neighbouring India. This disease is more prevalent in the Tharu community in Nepal.
Speaking at the 13th convocation ceremony of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, Prime Minister Oli urged the newly graduated doctors to be prepared to distribute the medicine to needy communities.
Referring to the sage Charak, who pioneered health science in the region, he emphasised the government's focus on healthcare for all.
Prime Minister Oli also clarified the government's commitment to increasing the quota of medical students in Nepal's health institutions to make the sector more effective and well-governed. A total of 657 undergraduate students graduated during the ceremony.
