KATHMANDU: Golchha Organisation and Sharda Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on developing an extensive network of DC fast charging stations across Nepal. This partnership aims to provide convenient charging solutions for electric vehicle (EV) users and promote sustainable transportation nationwide. The joint venture plans to establish 100 fast chargers within a year, representing a significant step towards enhancing Nepal's electric vehicle infrastructure.
Currently, over 16 fast charging networks operate across the country. With the increasing adoption of electric vehicles, the need for accessible and reliable charging infrastructure has become more critical. Existing charging stations are located at three sites each in Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Narayangadh, two in Biratnagar, and one each in Nepalgunj, Butwal, Birgunj, Birtamod, Bardibas, and other cities.
The joint initiative will focus on establishing charging stations in key locations, making it easier for EV owners to travel confidently. The partnership plans to establish 100 DC fast chargers across the country within a year, aiming to provide convenient service to customers.
Golchha Organisation is the official distributor of Leapmotor, Citroën, Peugeot, and Kaiyi in Nepal while Sharda Group is the authorised distributor for Nissan, Omoda & Jaecoo, and Zeekr vehicles. The partnership provides accessibility for customers of all brands associated with Golchha Organisation and Sharda Group. The conventional benefit of DC fast chargers can be utilised by all customers nationwide.
The agreement reinforces Golchha Organisation and Sharda Group's commitment to supporting the growing electric vehicle market in Nepal. This MOU marks a significant milestone in the advancement of Nepal’s EV charging network, paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future in transportation.
