KATHMANDU: Birendra Raj Pandey has been elected as the Senior Vice President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI).

The Governing Council Committee of CNI elected Pandey on Sunday, in accordance with the CNI statute. The senior vice president automatically becomes president for the new term, meaning Pandey will assume the role of CNI President after the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM).

Pandey has served as a national council member of CNI since 2015 and has been the Vice President of CNI since 2018.

Born in Kathmandu, Pandey has been in the construction industry for three decades. He is the Managing Director at Nepal Adarsha Nirman Company, which specialises in civil engineering, housing and urban development, roads and bridges, water resources management, and structural reinforcement. He is also active in the green material manufacturing, agriculture, and education sectors.

CNI believes that Pandey's extensive experience and expertise will make CNI more dynamic and play an important role in policy formulation for the country's economic reform.
