Santosh Narayan Shrestha appointed Chairman of SEBON

KATHMANDU: Santosh Narayan Shrestha, an executive with over 20 years of experience in the financial and manufacturing sectors, has been appointed Chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). His appointment brings expertise in the financial sector, corporate governance, strategic planning, and stakeholder management, supported by an academic background in Finance, including an MBA from Kathmandu University School of Management.

Shrestha has played key roles in the establishment, governance, and growth of several financial institutions and industries, including as Founder Chairman of Swabhimaan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha. Under his leadership, the institution successfully progressed from inception to IPO and listing on the Nepal Stock Exchange, setting benchmarks for transparency, regulatory compliance, and investor trust.

He also served as a Board Member of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), where he led initiatives in organisational restructuring, corporate policy development, and key infrastructure projects. As Founder Chairman of Nepal Express Finance, he oversaw the company’s strategic merger with Kailash Bikas Bank, achieving significant growth and value for stakeholders. In addition to his professional roles, Shrestha has been involved in academia, teaching management courses to undergraduate students.

Shrestha is expected to lead SEBON in strengthening Nepal's securities market, enhancing investor confidence, and advancing the country's financial sector. His appointment is anticipated to bring a new perspective to securities governance and market development, aligning with global best practices and the aspirations of Nepal’s financial landscape.
