KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arzu Rana Deuba, has urged Nepal's newly-appointed ambassadors and exporters to prioritise economic diplomacy and focus on its expansion and promotion.
Speaking at an interaction organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Tuesday, Minister Deuba emphasised that MoFA has prioritised economic diplomacy at the policy level to achieve the country's development and realise the nation's aspiration for prosperity.
She highlighted the importance of all diplomatic missions abroad promoting economic diplomacy, especially given Nepal's current economic challenges.
Minister Deuba urged the ambassadors to attract investment in Nepal from host countries and to promote Nepal's exports by showcasing the nation's business potential.
She called on Nepal's diplomatic missions to ensure effective and result-oriented performance and pledged to provide sufficient resources, noting that they are currently under-resourced.
She also encouraged Nepalese business persons and entrepreneurs to improve the packaging of their goods to make them more competitive in the international market.
Furthermore, Minister Deuba urged exporters to coordinate with Nepal's diplomatic missions abroad and MoFA if they face challenges in exporting Nepali goods.
