KATHMANDU: Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), an umbrella organisation representing hoteliers nationwide, has demanded a consistent electricity supply to hotels, similar to that provided to industries.
A delegation from HAN, led by its President Binayak Shah, met with Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, today. They requested that the hotel sector receive discounts on electricity tariffs and a regular power supply, as is done for the manufacturing industry.
The HAN representatives urged Minister Khadka to implement policies facilitating the use of electric stoves in hotels and the provision of time-of-day (TOD) meters. The delegation also reminded the minister of various legal provisions concerning the government's treatment of the hotel business.
In response, Minister Khadka stated that the current government has adopted a policy to encourage the private sector, asserting that the national economy cannot be strengthened unless the private sector is robust.
