This year, Jhapa district has produced 385,196.5 metric tonnes of paddy. According to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Jhapa, paddy production has increased in the district despite a reduction in the area of paddy plantation compared to previous years.
Information Officer at the Centre, Chet Raj Bhandari, stated that paddy was cultivated on 75,459 hectares of land this year, resulting in a productivity of 5.10 metric tonnes per hectare. Paddy production has increased by 8,791 metric tonnes compared to last year. Bhandari attributed this increase to favourable weather conditions, the availability of fertilisers, and the use of high-quality and advanced paddy seeds.
