KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, met with Pralhad Joshi, India's Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy, in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Minister Bhandari is currently on an official visit to India. During the meeting at Minister Joshi's office, the two ministers discussed matters of bilateral interest, including the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for Nepali companies and facilitating the import of essential food grains such as wheat, rice, and sugar.
Minister Bhandari requested Minister Joshi to facilitate the import of essential commodities from India to Nepal. Positive discussions were held on this topic during the talks, said Tarka Raj Bhatt, Under-Secretary at the Ministry, who is part of the Minister's delegation.
Minister Bhandari also sought the Indian Minister's attention regarding facilitating the export and marketing of Nepali products to India.
The two ministers further discussed necessary collaboration between BIS and the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology.
