KATHMANDU: NMB Bank has received a Special Mention Award in the Gender-Inclusive Workplace category at the 2024 UN Women Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards. This accolade highlights NMB Bank's commitment to advancing gender equality through its initiatives under the Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) Initiative.
The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), developed by UN Women and the UN Global Compact, set global standards for promoting gender equality across workplaces, marketplaces, and communities. The Gender-Inclusive Workplace category of the WEPs Awards recognises the achievements of corporations in adopting relevant gender-inclusive measures in the workplace.
NMB Bank has implemented pioneering initiatives such as the She Leads Tomorrow Scholarship, the NMB NextGen Banking Leaders Scholarship, women-led branches, women leadership programmes, and CSR activities focused on gender and social inclusion.
This award places NMB Bank on the global stage as the first Nepali organisation to be recognised by UN Women under the WEPs framework. The recognition comes from over 600 applications from 21 Asia-Pacific countries.
This achievement motivates NMB Bank to continue its journey towards a more inclusive and sustainable future. NMB Bank currently provides its services through 201 branches, 187 ATMs, and 11 extension counters.
