KATHMANDU: Banking Finance and Insurance Institute of Nepal (BFIN), in collaboration with the India-Nepal Centre of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), is set to host the third edition of the Nepal BFSI Summit 2024 on December 18, 2024 at Hotel Radisson in Kathmandu.
This year’s summit, themed 'Deepening Sustainable Financing for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation', will bring together prominent leaders, policymakers, and financial experts to discuss innovative strategies for promoting sustainability and addressing climate risks within the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sector.
The event’s inaugural ceremony will be honoured by the presence of Minister for Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests include National Planning Commission (NPC) member Prakash Kumar Shrestha; Nepal Rastra Bank Governor, Maha Prasad Adhikari; Finance Secretary Ram Prasad Ghimire; Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava; and Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Leann Johnston. Their participation underscores the critical importance of collaboration in advancing sustainable financing and tackling the challenges posed by climate change.
Industry leaders, environmental experts, and policymakers will engage in a series of panel discussions and technical sessions, sharing insights on how financial institutions can drive sustainable development and support the transition to a low-carbon economy. Key sessions will focus on the collaborative role of financial institutions in 'Showering People, Planet, and Cooperation', the potential for 'Innovation in Green Financing', and the 'Paradigm Shift in Sustainable Financing' required to address emerging climate challenges. Discussions will highlight actionable strategies and best practices for promoting sustainability in the financial sector, fostering regional cooperation, and enhancing Nepal’s resilience to climate risks.
Nepal BFSI Summit 2024 aims to strengthen the role of the BFSI sector in achieving sustainable growth by addressing pressing issues such as climate finance, regulatory innovation, and green investment opportunities.
