KATHMANDU: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reported a profit of Rs 9.11 billion before tax for the first three months of the current fiscal year.
Total income, including interest and other revenue from mid-July to mid-September, amounted to Rs 41.80 billion, while expenditure was Rs 32.69 billion.
During this period, NEA spent Rs 32.69 billion on operating maintenance. The sale of electricity from various distribution centres generated Rs 28.95 billion.
NEA purchased a total of 4.10 billion units of electricity from its own and subsidiary companies, as well as other private companies. According to NEA Managing Director Kul Man Ghising, a payment of Rs 21.09 billion was made for these purchases.
