JAKARTA: Indonesia has successfully produced B40 biodiesel, comprising 40% palm oil and 60% diesel, surpassing the current 35% palm oil composition. This new fuel blend will be introduced in the country next year, officials have announced.
Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Yuliot Tanjung stated on Tuesday that the government has set a production target of 15.62 million kilolitres of B40 biodiesel by 2025. "Based on this target, we hope to start distribution to consumers from January 1, 2025," he said.
Tanjung further mentioned that following the implementation of B40, the government aims to gradually develop biodiesel with 50% palm oil content.
Eniya Listiani Dewi, Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, confirmed that B40 biodiesel has already been produced and has successfully passed road tests for both automotive and non-automotive applications. "I confirm that the factory has already produced B40 biodiesel, which will be delivered on January 1," she said.
