Minister Dahal stresses linking infrastructure development to economic growth

KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, has emphasised the need to connect infrastructure development with economic growth. Speaking at the 22nd anniversary of the Roads Board Nepal, Dahal highlighted the importance of sustainable, safe, and useful infrastructure.

He stated that the Ministry prioritises projects that directly support people's lives, revenue collection, and economic growth, benefiting a large section of the population and geography. Dahal stressed the importance of setting priorities for infrastructure projects and directed the prompt management of sick tenders, urging the Board to accelerate road repairs and monitoring.

National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chairman Shiva Raj Adhikari stated that roadways are the major foundation for economic growth and should be expanded to contribute to development. He emphasised that investment in infrastructure will yield results, calling for stability and quality in projects.

Board Executive Director Ganesh KC highlighted the need for government efforts to ensure the Board's autonomy. An annual report for the last fiscal year was released on the occasion.
