KATMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has emphasised the need to promote the culture of the country to boost tourism in Nepal. He mentioned this during the 26th anniversary celebration of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) today.
Minister Pandey mentioned that Nepal is rich in various languages and cultures and if we can promote these then it will provide a unique experience to foreign travellers. This will help in further attracting more tourists.
On the occasion, State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Arun Kumar Chaudhary spoke of the immense potential that Nepal has in tourism. He said that each stakeholder should work honestly in their respective sphere if we want to see positive change in the country. He requested concerned authorities to approach the ministry if there is any issue with any rule or regulation so that it could be rectified instead of doing nothing just because the law does not allow it.
While delivering his welcome remarks, NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi gave a brief about the board’s journey since its establishment. He said he was positive about the prospects of further growth of tourism in Nepal and mentioned that till December 30 a total of 1,147,000 foreign tourists visited the country in 2024. Joshi also spoke about the myths that people have about NTB.
To celebrate the occasion, the NTB also unveiled its annual publication ‘In Focus 2024’. Employees who have completed 25 years of service in the organisation were also honoured on the occasion.
