KATHMANDU: Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN), will organise a photo exhibition in collaboration with the Photojournalist (PJ) Club, Nepal, at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel on January 17.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between IPPAN President Ganesh Karki and PJ Club President Dwarika Kafle on Wednesday, outlining the management of the exhibition. This event, marking IPPAN's 25th anniversary, will showcase 50 photos highlighting the contributions of IPPAN-affiliated power producers to Nepal's energy sector and the social and economic development of local communities.
PJ Club President Kafle announced that the exhibition will be divided into two sections. An independent jury, comprising representatives from both PJ Club and IPPAN, will select photos submitted by individuals and companies for the competition. Cash prizes of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 10,000 will be awarded to the top three entries, respectively.
Additionally, under the leadership of PJ Club, photos of projects promoted by IPPAN-affiliated member companies will be collected and displayed. These photos, however, will not be eligible for the competition and will remain the property of IPPAN.
Attendees at the MoU exchange ceremony included IPPAN President Karki, Treasurer Narendra Ballav Panth, CEO Bhim Gautam, and PJ Club President Kafle, General Secretary Amul Thapa, and exhibition coordinator Gyanendra Karki from IPPAN.
Entries for the photo competition must be submitted by January 4. A short video/documentary competition will also be organised as part of the silver jubilee celebrations, with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 for the winner. Videos must be submitted by Saturday, according to IPPAN.
