KATHMANDU: Nepal's first female ambassador, Bhinda Swari Shah, passed away on Thursday. She was 92.
In 1988, Shah made history as the country's first female ambassador to India, appointed by King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah. She later served as additional secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before retiring.
Shah was the first Nepali woman to earn both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the USA.
She was the mother of banker Anil Keshary Shah.
