COLOMBO: Sri Lanka's Inland Revenue Department (IRD) succeeded in collecting the highest tax revenue in its history in 2024, Sepalika Chandrasekara, the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue, told journalists.
The IRD managed to generate a total tax revenue of Rs 1,958 billion (about $6.7 billion) in the year 2024, said the official on Friday.
This represents an increase of Rs 392 billion (about $1.33 billion) in total tax revenue compared to the year 2023, she said.
