This will be the third time the club has organised the show, aiming to improve dog breeds and produce quality dogs capable of competing at international level.

According to KCN Secretary Bibesh Shrestha, this initiative will play a significant role in producing high-quality dogs, improving breeds, and encouraging dog breeders.

He mentioned that the number of participating dogs is expected to increase compared to previous shows. In the last two events, 35 breeds competed, with a total of 153 high-quality dogs participating.

The organisers have announced that various breeds, including Husky, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Pug, Labrador, Dalmatian, St Bernard, English Cocker Spaniel, Neapolitan Mastiff, Doberman Pinscher, Beagle, and Pomeranian, will take part in the upcoming competition. Vaccinations will be mandatory for all dogs, and their health will be assessed by a qualified veterinarian. Only dogs over three months old will be allowed to participate. The event will be judged by Sanjay Gurung, the only internationally recognised judge.

The dogs will first compete within their breed, with the best advancing to the next round, where a panel of internationally recognised judges will select the top dog.

Once a dog becomes a champion in the show, it can compete in countries affiliated with World Kennel Union, and its offspring are also recognised with the title of champion. Such champions' offspring are sold at higher prices than other dogs.

The show has established a breed club to keep records of dogs' ancestors, disease resistance, and production capacity. It is expected to significantly contribute to dog breed improvement and animal management at both the international and national levels.

The tradition of dog championship shows is believed to have started in 1773 worldwide. Such shows in Nepal are considered important also for encouraging the animal husbandry business.

This championship show is expected to establish Nepal on the international stage and pave the way for producing quality breed dogs in the future.
