KATHMANDU: The Office of the Attorney General's report for the fiscal year 2023/24 was submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel today.
Attorney General Ramesh Badal presented the report to the President during a programme held at the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.
President Paudel emphasised the need for more scientific, effective, and factual approaches in the investigation, prosecution, pleading, advocacy, and defence of government cases. He noted that increasing the success rate of cases would enhance the rule of law and, particularly, the criminal justice administration.
"Rather than merely increasing the success rate of cases, I believe it is more important to ensure that the victim receives justice. Therefore, the responsibility of the Attorney General is not only to punish the offender but also to ensure that the victim receives justice with compensation," President Paudel stated.
The President also expressed his belief that the Office of the Attorney General, Nepal, will focus on the effective implementation of the Constitution of Nepal, particularly in protecting the rights of victims in the context of fundamental rights.
Attorney General Badal also presented a summary of the report during the occasion.
