JALESHWAR: Paddy production has increased in Mahottari district this year. According to Manish Pal, Chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Centre Mahottari, an additional 37,100 metric tonnes of rice have been produced this year.
A total of 159,800 metric tonnes of rice have been produced across 42,500 hectares of land, representing a 30.2% increase compared to last year.
Last year, 122,700 metric tonnes of rice were produced from 39,870 hectares of land.
Chief Pal attributed the increase in paddy production in the district this year to sufficient rainfall, the use of advanced seed varieties, the timely application of fertilisers, and agricultural technology. However, he noted a decrease in the production of fine and fragrant rice varieties such as Basmati, Karikumod, and Tulsiphul.
