KANKREBHIR: The Ministry of Finance has allocated Rs 4.20 billion for the upgrade of the Bheri Corridor section, a significant project in Karnali Province.

This budget will cover the upgrade of the corridor from Tallu in Nalgad Municipality-12 to Tripurakot in Dolpa.

Dhan Bahadur Budha, a member of the House of Representatives and former Urban Development Minister, announced that the Finance Ministry ensured the budget at the request of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Urban Development.

He stated that construction activities on the 217-kilometre Bheri Corridor, which had been halted due to a budget crunch, would now gain momentum. The upgrade of the 62-kilometre section from Jajarkot to Tallu is already underway.

Similarly, of the remaining 56-kilometre road from Tallu to Dunai, the 42-kilometre section from Tallu to Tripurakot will now be upgraded.

Sunil Ranjitkar, Chief of the Bheri Corridor Project, noted that with the guaranteed budget, the Bheri Corridor, particularly the section where the Nepali Army has already opened the track, would be upgraded by announcing a new tender.

Former Minister Budha also mentioned that preparations were underway to secure a budget for the construction of a motorable bridge to replace the existing Bailey bridge.
