KATHMANDU: Britain Nepal Chamber of Commerce (BNCC) recently concluded its annual general meeting (AGM), re-electing Kapil Rijal as Chairman. Rijal is a successful entrepreneur, film director, and producer.
BNCC aims to promote bilateral trade and investment in Nepal, working for the mutual benefit of entrepreneurs in both Nepal and the UK. The organisation arranges activities to help businesses achieve their goals, identify business opportunities, and promote their interests within the Britain and Nepal business communities.
The AGM also elected Biraj Bhatta and Indra Giri as Vice Chairmen, and Rajendra Shrestha as Secretary.
After 10 years of service, Richard Pelly, the outgoing CEO of BNCC, stepped down. Steve Buckley, a former British Diplomatic Service member with extensive knowledge of trade in the Asia Pacific region, succeeded him as the new CEO. Buckley previously served as Director of Trade and Investment at the British High Commissions in Thailand and Malaysia.
Additionally, Nadia Williams, Santosh Mandal, Kamal Paudel, Anjani Phuyal, BP Khanal, Basanta Nepal, Anil Neupane, Prabhu Neupane, Deepak Shrestha, Mitchell Campbell, Krishna Bhatta, Masoud Angiz, Bikash Nepal, and Prakash Dhungana have been elected as executive members.
During the AGM, Chairman Rijal and Vice Chairman Bhatta provided a brief assessment of past activities and achievements, and outlined future activities of the organisation.
Newly appointed CEO Buckley expressed his desire to use his experience and expertise to promote trade and investment between the UK and Nepal.
Chairman Rijal presented a token of appreciation to the outgoing CEO Pelly, acknowledging his outstanding service to the organisation. Pelly had previously led a BNCC trade delegation to Nepal and helped organise various successful events.

Chief guest at the AGM, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the Embassy of Nepal in London, Bipin Duwadi, congratulated the newly elected committee and appreciated BNCC's ongoing efforts to promote trade and investment between Nepal and the UK. He assured continuous support from the Embassy through initiatives such as the Nepal Development Conference, seminars, and other collaborative programmes. Various investors and entrepreneurs from the UK and the Nepali diaspora living in the UK attended the AGM.
Nepali Ambassador to the UK, Chandra Kumar Ghimire, serves as the Patron of BNCC.
