Government approves Bill on Social Sites Regulation

KATHMANDU: The Council of Ministers has approved the presentation of the Bill Designed to Make Provisions on the Operation, Use, and Regulation of Social Sites, 2025, in Parliament.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson, Prithvi Subba Gurung, announced this during a news conference at the Ministry today, following the Council of Ministers' meeting on January 20.

Minister Gurung stated that the Council of Ministers has recommended to the President to summon a session of both houses of the Federal Parliament at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 31. The President has already summoned the session accordingly.

Additionally, the Council of Ministers has approved the Procedure on Equalisation Grant, 2081, and the Procedures on Special Grant, 2081. It has also annulled the Procedures on Co-Financing, 2077, and the Procedures on Cash Transfer to Absolutely Poor Families Affected by Covid-19, 2078, under the Ministry of Finance.

The Cabinet has nominated Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Shree Krishna Nepal, as the Alternative Executive Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It has also approved the private sector's development and operation of Block B and Block C of the Simara Special Economic Zone under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The Council of Ministers' meeting has approved the acquisition of approximately 30 ropanis of land at Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Palpa district, for the Butwal Water Supply Project.

Minister Gurung also announced that the Cabinet has approved Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya's participation in an international conference titled '2024: A Global Election Year – Recreation and Reclaiming of Democratic Space' on January 23-24, the National Voters Day programme on January 25, and the Republic Day Parade on January 26, in New Delhi, India.
