KATHMANDU: The construction of Pathivara Devi Mukumlung Darshan Cable Car Project, designed to facilitate access to the renowned Pathibhara Devi Temple, began on Tuesday. Indra Kedem, Head of Himalayan Construction, announced that the work started at the bottom station.

Kedem stated that the next construction phase would proceed rapidly, with the cooperation and coordination of all political parties in the district, lawmakers, local representatives, residents, and government agencies, including security agencies.

Rudra Poudel, cable car company operator, highlighted that the Pathivara Cable Car, once completed and operational, would significantly contribute to the economic, social, and cultural development of the mountainous district in Eastern Nepal. He said the project will be executed swiftly. He assured that within 15 months, pilgrims will be able to use the cable car to reach Pathivara Devi Temple. This service will particularly benefit pilgrims with disabilities, the elderly and children. He also stated that the cable car would serve as an example of tourism promotion, job creation, environmental sustainability, and economic and social development.

According to the cable car company, the number of tourists visiting the temple will reach 1 million annually upon the project's completion. The ease of access to the temple is expected to attract more devotees.  It is anticipated that Taplejung will be established as a tourist destination offering safe, sustainable, and world-class tourism products and services.

The Pathivara Devi Mukumlung Darshan Cable Car is operated and managed by IME Group, which has 15 years of experience in constructing and operating cable cars. The group's first cable car project in Chandragiri has made Kathmandu a new tourist destination. Likewise, Maulakali Cable Car in Nawalpur and Lumbini Cable Car in Butwal are also completed and operational. Meanwhile, the construction work of Jalpa Devi Cable Car in Karnali has been expedited.

IME Group has called upon all parties to join hands in completing the Pathivara Devi Mukumlung Darshan Cable Car project as soon as possible and to support more transformative projects in Nepal's tourism market.
