BIRGINJ, PARSA: Birgunj Customs Office has reported exports worth Rs 29.27 billion to various countries in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2024/25.
According to the customs office, exports have surged by 100%, an increase of Rs 14.71 billion, compared to the same period last fiscal year. Amit Tiwari, Information Officer, attributed the increase to the rising exports of processed soybean and sunflower oil to neighbouring India.
Exports totalled Rs 14.56 billion in the first six months of the last fiscal year 2023/24. The office collected Rs 176.6 million in revenue from exports during the first six months of the current fiscal year.
In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, the office collected Rs 103.81 million in revenue from exports.
Meanwhile, goods and merchandise worth Rs 277.15 million were imported through the Birgunj border transit in the first six months of the current fiscal year, compared to Rs 260 million in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Imports have also increased by 6.45% during the corresponding period of the current fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year.
