KATHMANDU: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, stated that the Department of Postal Service will be made technology-friendly.

Speaking during the launch of 'One Local Level One Post Office' campaign at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT), he emphasised the need to update postal policies.

Minister Gurung highlighted that development has been hindered by outdated policies and procedures, which do not align with the country's transformation. He assured that all old policies and acts will be amended within the year to modernise the postal service.

"The policy of the Department of Postal Service will now be changed," Minister Gurung stated, noting the ministry's commitment to making the post office technology-friendly.

The programme was attended by local post office employees. Minister Gurung urged them to make the post office public service-oriented, starting with the General Post Office at the centre and extending to other local levels.

Director General of the Department of Postal Service, Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni, briefed the Minister on the status of the General Post Office and outlined the challenges and action plan for improving local post offices.
