
KATHMANDU: National Cooperative Regulation Authority (NCRA), established under the ordinance amending the Cooperative Act, 2074 BS, was inaugurated on Monday.
Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Bala Ram Adhikari, formally opened the authority's office during a programme at the former National Cooperative Development Board's building in Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
During the event, Minister Adhikari administered the oath of office to the chairperson and members of the NCRA. In his address, he stated that the NCRA would collaborate with cooperatives.
The minister also pledged to amend incompatible laws and regulations within the cooperative sector and to resolve all related issues within two years. He mentioned that efforts are underway to amend the Land and Survey Act to address land-related problems.
Arjun Prasad Pokharel has been appointed as the Chairman of the NCRA.
