KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has picked Sanjeev Sharma as a representative to facilitate trade in Australia.

NCC's Advisory Council Chair, Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, signed the certificate of Chamber Honorary Representatives, appointing Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) International Coordination Council (ICC) Honorary Council member and businessperson Sharma.

At a special programme organised in Australia, NCC Advisory Council Chair Shrestha congratulated Sharma and presented him with the certificate of Honorary Representative, extending his best wishes for the upcoming term.

According to a statement issued by the NCC, Sharma was selected as the Honorary Representative to collaborate on trade promotion, tourism, and investment between Nepal and Australia.

Shrestha highlighted that the representative was picked due to the significant Nepali population in Australia and its importance from a business perspective. "There is substantial potential for exports from Nepal to Australia. In the current fiscal year alone, Rs 840 million worth of exports have been made. There is a good market in Australia for cottage and handicraft items, carpets, and other products," Shrestha stated.

He also urged NRNs in Australia to invest back in Nepal.

On the occasion, Honorary Representative Sharma pledged to take the initiative to attract investment and facilitate trade in Nepal. He committed to promoting exports through trade facilitation.

The NCC has been picking representatives in various countries for trade facilitation and export promotion.
