CAN Federation to hold 30th CAN Info-Tech in Kathmandu from Feb 6 to 10

KATHMANDU: Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation) is set to organise the 30th edition of 'CAN Info-Tech' at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu from February 6 to 10.

The CAN Federation announced the upcoming CAN Info-Tech 2025 at a press meet on Sunday. The federation aims to showcase the latest technologies developed in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector and foster meaningful interactions for the sector’s development.

Based on sponsorship, the official name of the 30th edition was announced as 'HMC Nepal HIKSEMI CAN Info-Tech 2024 in association with Mercantile Office Systems'. The event is supported by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT), Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), and other national and international organisations.

CAN Federation President Sunaina Ghimire Pandey expressed confidence in the exhibition's role in building Digital Nepal through local market-driven innovations and collaboration with the government on ICT policies.

This year, tickets for CAN Info-Tech can be purchased online through Ticket Sanjal, with entrance fees set at Rs 100 for the general public and Rs 50 for students. Free entry is available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, children below 10 years, and group visits from government and community schools.

At the press meet, General Secretary Chandra Bilas Bhurtel highlighted that national and international ICT companies will participate in the CAN Info-Tech, which will provide a platform to showcase new technologies for business expansion. Interaction programmes related to IT will be held throughout the event.

The exhibition will feature branding, ICT accessories, a game parlour, product launches, startups, robotics, emerging technology, e-governance, women entrepreneurs in IT, Wi-Fi and Internet, a Learning Centre, and National ID card enrolment. A cybersecurity help desk will be operated by the Information Security Response Team Nepal (NPCERT).

At the Info-Tech fair, STEM learning tools, an auto self-driving car and DataBot Personal Assistant AI, will be showcased to help visitors and students understand topics like AI and robotics. AI and software projects by students will also be displayed at the event.

The CAN Info-Tech 2025 will have around 150 stalls, 90% of which are already booked, and is expected to attract about 350,000 visitors, it was shared at the press meet. 

Meanwhile, provincial and district-level editions of CAN Info-Tech in Banke district will conclude on February 4, and mini CAN Info-Tech in Bardiya will conclude on February 6, with further events planned in other locations, according to the CAN Federation.

The federation has urged the government, IT professionals, policymakers, educational institutions, media, and technology enthusiasts to support CAN Info-Tech in a grand manner.
