KATHMANDU: The government's total expenditure reached Rs 667.60 billion in the first half of current fiscal year 2024/25, as reported by the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO).
During the first six months, recurrent, capital, and financial expenditures amounted to Rs 452 billion, Rs 56.94 billion, and Rs 158.66 billion, respectively.
Total revenue mobilisation, inclusive of transfers to provincial and local governments, reached Rs 559.61 billion, comprising Rs 489.40 billion in tax revenue and Rs 70.21 billion in non-tax revenue.
Government cash balance
As of mid-January 2025, the cash balance of the Government of Nepal's various accounts with the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), including provincial and local government accounts, stood at Rs 297.70 billion, up from Rs 83.99 billion in mid-July 2024.
Provincial government's expenditure, revenue
From mid-July to mid-January of current fiscal year, provincial governments' total expenditure was Rs 44.81 billion, while resource mobilisation amounted to Rs 84.91 billion. This includes Rs 67.17 billion in grants and revenue transferred from the Government of Nepal, along with Rs 17.74 billion in revenue and other receipts from the provincial governments.
