KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Vice President Jyotsna Shrestha has said the policy reforms and practical implementation are necessary for the country's economic development.
Speaking at a programme titled 'Economy: Policy and Practice' recently organised by Female Economic Journalist Association (FEJA) in Kathmandu, Shrestha highlighted the importance of the government's amendments to 29 different Acts, which aim to improve the economic and business environment, promote investment, good governance, and public service reform. She expressed optimism that these laws will be ratified by the current parliamentary session.
The government has also introduced ‘Trade Policy, 2081,’ replacing Trade Policy, 2015 (2072 BS) to increase service sector exports and reduce the trade deficit, fostering competitive market development and boosting the international competitiveness of Nepali goods, according to Shrestha.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, inaugurated the programme.
On the occasion, Minister Paudel reaffirmed the government's commitment to policy reforms to enhance the economic environment, productivity, and employment.
