SIRAHA: Establishment of an industrial village has been planned in Laxminagar of Surunga Municipality-3 in Saptari district.

Industrialist Birendra Neupane stated that the industrial village, named 'Big Indus Padamnagar', will be constructed within two years at a cost of Rs 4 billion. The industrial village will be set up on 14 bigha of land.

Senior leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal laid the foundation stone for the industrial village on Monday. On the occasion, Khanal remarked that industries play a significant role in national development.

"It is a historic project linked to the country's development and prosperity," he observed, adding that the private sector is capable of advancing development initiatives. Such activities help create employment, he added.

He further said that the employment generated within the country would curb youth exodus.

Similarly, the company proprietor and hydropower entrepreneur Birendra Neupane informed that the industrial village was being set up in memory of his grandfather, Padma Bahadur, who had made a significant contribution to the social sector. "We can also work in the country by establishing industries and giving jobs to the youth," he said, adding that he decided on the industrial village after realising the need to serve the native land.

"It will benefit a huge number of people once operational," he opined.

The facility will include a pulp factory for producing packets of fruit juice and pulp. During the season, 10 trucks of mangoes will be purchased from farmers for the factory every day. This helps ensure proper value for locally produced fruits.

A cold storage facility with a capacity of up to 2,600 metric tonnes of fruits will be constructed in the industrial village. This will help farmers store their products and access the market, according to Neupane.

In collaboration with Indian businesspersons in the petroleum industry, a lubricant factory will also be set up in the industrial village. Other planned industries include those related to paint, solar plants, glass, and bottles.

During the programme, Surunga Municipality Mayor Geeta Chaudhary expressed happiness over the grand project, which she said would create jobs. She also vowed support from local level for the project's establishment.
