KATHMANDU: The Startup Network, in collaboration with Kathmandu FinteK founder Sanjib Subba, held its first incubation session for 2025, marking a significant milestone for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Seven innovative startups from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DMAE) programme participated in the event. The session centred on three core themes: business ethics, idea validation, and the foundational principles of startup creation. Attendees engaged with industry experts and mentors, receiving valuable insights on scaling ventures, navigating entrepreneurship complexities, and fostering innovation in various sectors.

The diverse group of startups represented industries including agriculture, climate control, distillery, drones, and merchandise. This vibrant mix highlighted the dynamic entrepreneurial spirit at the Institute of Engineering (IOE) and the potential for cross-industry collaboration in Nepal’s growing startup ecosystem.

Subba was a key speaker and mentor at the session. His expertise in building and scaling businesses in Nepal’s emerging tech landscape resonated with participants, who benefited from his first-hand knowledge of startup development and advice on business ethics and sustainable practices. “We are excited to kick off 2025 with such a dynamic cohort of startups. Each of these young entrepreneurs is contributing to solving real-world challenges with innovative ideas,” said Subba. “At this session, we emphasised the importance of validating ideas early, building a strong foundation, and adhering to ethical practices that will drive business success and positively impact the community.”

The session provided the seven startups with essential tools, resources, and mentorship to refine their business models and bring their ideas to life. Moving forward, The Startup Network will continue to support these emerging companies through further incubation and networking opportunities.

The Startup Network is a dynamic initiative designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship by providing support, mentorship, and resources to early-stage startups. In partnership with leading industry figures and academic institutions, The Startup Network aims to create an ecosystem that nurtures the next generation of successful entrepreneurs.
