KATHMANDU: Restoration work has commenced on various sections of the BP Highway, which sustained extensive damage from landslides and floods caused by torrential rains in September 2024.

The Department of Roads has initiated repairs on the stretch from Bhakundebeshi to Nepalthok. The reconstruction effort targets the significantly affected 13-kilometre section, with 8.5 kilometres scheduled for complete reconstruction.

Suman Yogesh, Senior Engineer and Chief of the Road Division Bhaktapur, stated that the reconstruction of the BP Highway is a top priority for the Division, with plans to continue maintenance work, including during night hours.

Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, conducted a field inspection of the highway on Saturday. During the visit, he assured that adequate resources would be managed for the smooth implementation of the reconstruction efforts.
