TEXAS: Nepali social activists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have launched a campaign called 'Community Programme for Students' to collect food aid for nearly 3,000 Nepali students.

Food aid will provided to jobless Nepali students studying at various universities in Texas, USA.

General Secretary of Nepalese Society of Texas (NST), Bijay Bhusal, stated that the students would receive food items including rice, lentils, oil, salt, and grams sufficient for at least a month. According to Bhusal, more than 700 Nepali students have already received food support.

Students with vehicles can collect food items from local Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Centre, while arrangements have been made to deliver food grains to the addresses of students without vehicles.

President Donald Trump's plan to expel illegal immigrants has directly impacted Nepali students. Police are conducting daily raids on thousands of business firms in search of illegal immigrants, warning, arresting, and expelling those found working in commercial firms without legal residency or work permits.

Nepali students have been affected by this measure and risk arrest if found working illegally. According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA, there are currently around 50,000 Nepali students studying at various universities in the US.
