KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, held a meeting with India's Minister for Jal Shakti, CR Patil, in New Delhi today.
Energy Minister Khadka is in New Delhi to attend 'India Energy Week-2025'.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to advance the Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project by completing the detailed project report (DPR) soon, stated senior energy expert Prabal Adhikari.
Discussions were also held to organise a meeting of the joint committee from March 22 to 24 for the management of floods and inundation.
Both countries agreed to continue discussions through bilateral meetings regarding the DPR of Saptakoshi Multipurpose Project. On the occasion, Minister Khadka recalled that the meeting and discussions held on November 5 had further encouraged the advancement of significant activities in the water resources sector through collaboration between the two countries.
Minister Patil mentioned that the Indian government was positive about finalising the DPR of Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project and moving the project forward soon.
Present at the meeting were Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Secretary Suresh Acharya, senior energy expert Prabal Adhikari, Joint Secretary Sandip Kumar Dev, and Economic Advisor to the Minister, Amit Shrestha, from the Nepali side, as well as high-ranking officials from the Indian side.
