MCC suspends projects in Nepal for three months

KATHMANDU: The Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA-Nepal) programme, administered by the US aid agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), has been suspended.

The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday announced that the MCA Nepal programme will be suspended for three months.

According to a press statement issued by the ministry, "An email sent by the MCC on February 14 informed stakeholders that activities funded by the MCC related to ongoing projects have been suspended in accordance with the Executive Order issued by US President Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, regarding the 90-day suspension."

Nepal signed the MCC compact in September 2017.
