Nepali, Chinese officials in Lhasa discuss trade, cooperation

KATHMANDU: Director General of Commerce Department of Xizang Autonomous Region, China, Chen Jung, and Consul General of Nepal in Lhasa, Laxmi Prasad Niraula, held a meeting at the latter's office today.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including bilateral relations, business, commerce, transit, trade fairs, and the trade facilitation committee meeting, according to the Consulate General of Nepal in Lhasa.

Consul General Niraula acknowledged the historic relations between the two countries and extended gratitude for China's continuous support to Nepal. He expressed confidence that Nepal would continue to receive similar support in the future.

Director General Chen praised the role of the Consulate General of Nepal in strengthening bilateral relations and affirmed China's readiness to support further enhancement of relations between the two countries and Nepal's development.

Both sides agreed to strengthen Nepal-China trade, commerce, and transit sectors, and to initiate measures to export Nepal's agricultural products to China.

Moreover, commitments were made to address issues at checkpoints, develop physical infrastructure, exchange visits, participate in trade fairs and festivals in both countries, and advance cooperatively for the welfare of the people, according to the Consulate General of Nepal.
