
BIRGUNJ, PARSA: Petroleum products, including diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene worth Rs 104.76 billion, have been imported through Birgunj customs point in the first seven months of current fiscal year.
Compared to the same period last fiscal year, the import of petroleum products has increased by Rs 840 million in the current fiscal year 2024/25. Amit Tiwari, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, mentioned that there has been an increase in both the import and revenue of petroleum products in recent months.
“With the start of infrastructure construction season, there has been an increase in import of petroleum products,” he said. In seven-month period last fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 103.92 billion were imported.
According to the Customs Office, Rs 43.11 billion in revenue has been collected from the import of petroleum products in the first seven months of current fiscal year, compared to Rs 38.65 billion collected last year.
In the current fiscal year, Rs 51.79 billion worth of diesel, equivalent to 581,799 kilolitres, was imported, generating Rs 23.1 billion in revenue over seven months, according to the customs office. Similarly, Rs 22.14 billion worth of petrol was imported in the same period, generating Rs 14.49 billion in revenue from 255,542 kilolitres. Additionally, Rs 20.9 billion worth of LPG, equivalent to 182,994,624 kilograms, was imported, generating Rs 3.91 billion in revenue.
