KATHMANDU: Number of devotees, holy men, and visitors at Pashupatinath temple during the Mahashivaratri festival has significantly increased in Pashupati area.
The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has made arrangements in anticipation of the highest number of devotees in over a decade.

The Mahashivaratri Festival Management Main Celebration Committee, chaired by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, who is also the chairperson of PADT, has been formed to observe the festival with fervour and gaiety.

PADT Member-Secretary, Milan Kumar Thapa, stated, "Nine thematic sub-committees have been formed, and the sub-committees have forwarded the work as per their responsibility. We have focused all our attention on giving top priority to the managerial aspect and the convenience of devotees."
Devotees are coming from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and other countries.

Thapa said that PADT has decided to open the doors of Pashupatinath temple at 2:00 am on Wednesday to facilitate systematic arrangements for offering worship and obeisance to Pashupatinath.
"Teams from Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department have been mobilised for security. PADT will also mobilise its own security team," he added.
Additionally, arrangements and coordination have been made to provide health services. Sadhus and holy men will be accommodated in dharmashalas within the temple premises.
Besides Tilganga, arrangements have been made for free food and accommodation in Hangshamandap, Bankali, and other areas, according to PADT.
