Tulsipur: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has allocated a budget of NPR 10 million for the immediate expansion of Tarigaun Airport, located in Tulsipur, Dang. This move comes as part of efforts to enhance the airport's capacity and support regional connectivity.

Syani Chaudhary, Deputy Mayor of Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City, confirmed that the ministry has also reached out to the Ministry of Finance for an additional NPR 990 million to further fund the expansion project. The airport, established in 2011, currently faces limitations in accommodating larger aircraft due to its 750-metre runway.

With the proposed extension to 1,500 metres, the airport would be able to handle 72-seat aircraft, which could significantly improve flight options for the region. At present, only 19-seat aircraft are able to land, and smaller aircraft have ceased operations due to the limited capacity.

Deputy Mayor Chaudhary assured that preparations for the expansion were underway, with efforts focused on securing the necessary funding to commence work soon. The airport's expansion has also received attention from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who recently visited the site to inspect its current condition and potential for growth.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and support regional development in the Dang area.
