KATHMANDU: Experts in the economic sector have emphasised the need to increase investment in agriculture to drive the nation’s economic development.
Speaking at an interaction programme held in Kathmandu on Saturday, they urged the government and political parties to prioritise making the country self-reliant, as the nation’s economic situation has deteriorated into a crisis.
Economist Professor Dr Kushum Shakya noted that economic instability, rising unemployment, and higher inflation have deepened the country’s crises.
Similarly, economist Sanjay Acharya highlighted that a lack of transparency in the government’s policy drafting process and an absence of foresight have hindered the nation’s economic growth.
Addressing the event, economist Ghanashyam Dawadi argued that healthcare costs have risen due to the government’s ineffective interventions in the healthcare sector.
