KATHMANDU: Ncell Foundation has started distributing educational kits, implementing its ‘4 for 4s’ pledge made during the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024. As part of this initiative, a total of 446 educational kits were provided to students from three schools in Lumbini Province on Tuesday.
The initiative, which connects the excitement of cricket with classrooms, was launched by Ncell in November last year. Under the programme, four educational kits are distributed to students from government or community-run schools for every boundary hit during the NPL. The effort aims to positively impact young learners and support education.
As part of this commitment, Ncell’s CEO and Managing Director, Jabbor Kayumov, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Secretary Paras Khadka, Lumbini Lions Chairman Ishwar GC, Ncell’s Interim Director for Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, and other Ncell officials distributed kits to 260 primary-level students from Shree Rastriya Madhyamik Bidhyalaya and Madarsa Bahrul Uloom, both located in Kapilvastu Municipality, Ward 10. Additionally, Ncell’s Chief of Staff, Stephen Rodriguez, accompanied by other officials, distributed 186 kits to students from Shree Balakshanti Bidhyalaya in Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality, Ward 4, Banke.

Speaking at the event, Mr Kayumov remarked, “In line with our commitment, we are delighted to support primary-level students with essential learning materials through Ncell Foundation. Quality education is every child’s basic right, and I believe this initiative will inspire students to pursue their academic aspirations while bridging resource gaps.”
The kits included necessary school supplies such as bags, notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, and other items.
Paras Khadka, Secretary of CAN, praised the initiative, stating, “This programme effectively links education with cricket and supports students’ learning under Ncell’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). I am pleased to have joined the distribution effort in Kapilvastu, spending time with the children and sharing joy.”
Overall, the programme intends to distribute 2,612 educational kits nationwide, corresponding to 653 boundaries hit during the NPL. Requests for assistance were received from the two Kapilvastu schools via the Ncell Foundation’s Facebook page, while Shree Balakshanti Bidhyalaya approached Ncell’s regional office for support.
Interim Director Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka noted the positive reception of the programme. “We are encouraged by the overwhelming response to this initiative. More kits will be provided to students in need across the country through collaborations with stakeholders such as the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN),” she said, adding that the educational kit distribution drive will continue.
In partnership with NPL, the initiative reflects Ncell’s commitment to supporting sports development in Nepal under the theme, ‘Here for You’. The Ncell Foundation remains dedicated to contributing to community prosperity through impactful projects addressing essential social needs.
